Privacy policy

What is collected

Only what you provide, at the moment you provide it.

When you book an appointment — your name, email address, phone number, the service you selected, the date and time you chose, and anything you write in the message field.

When you use the chat — the messages you send, and an email address if you ask for a reply or a transcript. If you choose WhatsApp instead, that conversation takes place in WhatsApp and is governed by WhatsApp's own terms, not by this policy.

When you leave a review — your name and what you write. A review is published only if you consent to publication, and it appears with a first name and a month, never a full name or a date. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by email.

Automatically — the hosting provider keeps ordinary server records, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to keep the site running and secure. This website also keeps a daily count of how many times each page was opened. That count is a number and nothing more: it records no address, no device, and nothing that could tell one visitor from another or link a visit to you. There is no third-party analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of visitors across other websites. No cookie is set for marketing. One small value is stored in your browser so that a help message does not reappear on every visit; it identifies nobody.

What it is used for

To reply to you, to arrange and confirm appointments, to send confirmations, reschedules and cancellations, and to keep the records that professional obligations require. Personal information is never sold, rented, or shared for anyone's marketing.

Booking or messaging through this site does not by itself create a lawyer–client relationship, and information sent before one exists may not be protected by privilege. Send only what is needed to arrange a meeting. The details belong in the meeting.

Who else handles the information

Service providers are used to run this site, and only for that:

• Vercel — website hosting (United States)
• Supabase — database and administrator authentication (United States)
• Resend — confirmation and notification email (United States)
• Google Workspace — the practice's mailboxes (United States and other countries)
• Cloudflare — domain and DNS (multiple countries)

Information held outside Canada

Because of the providers listed above, information is stored and processed outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of those countries, including lawful access by their courts and government authorities.

Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act requires that you be told this, and that you be given someone to ask about it. That is the contact at the top of this page.

Information is not disclosed to anyone else except with your consent, or where the law requires it.

How long it is kept

Appointment and client records are kept for as long as the matter requires and for the period professional and legal obligations demand, and are then deleted. Chat transcripts and enquiries that did not lead to an appointment are kept while they remain useful, and are removed earlier on request. System logs are short-lived and automatically redact anything resembling a password, key or token.

Security

Traffic to and from this site is encrypted. The administration area requires authentication. Database access is restricted to the server. The office street address is not published on this site; it is sent only in an appointment confirmation. No system is perfect, and no absolute guarantee can honestly be given.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA and Alberta's PIPA you may ask what personal information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, and withdraw your consent. Write to mohammed@beseisolaw.com and a response will follow within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and information is not knowingly collected from them.

Any change is posted on this page, with a new date at the top.
